Bell signs with Union College

Greenwood's DeMonte Bell signed to play football at Union College on Thursday.

Bell said he is excited about the opportunity to play at the next level.

"I don't even now how to explain it, my emotions are so wound up," Bell said. "It's amazing to know that I get to be part of the rare few that get to play college football. I'm just proud to be able to do it."

Bell said he considered Lindsey Wilson, University of the Cumberlands and Kentucky Christian before ultimately deciding on Union.

"I went to go visit Union and the atmosphere when I walked on campus, they made me feel at home," Bell said. "It felt like a loving community and felt amazing."

An inside linebacker for the Gators, Bell recorded 79 tackles to help Greenwood finish 9-3 and advance to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Bell said he is happy to have his college decision behind him.

"I'm going to miss the people because I have made so many relationships," Bell said. "I wouldn't be able to be where I am without them, but everybody has to move forward at some point or another. I'm just ecstatic about it."
